According to the latest news from the Central Meteorological Observatory, Typhoon Bawei, the 9th typhoon of this year, has developed into a super typhoon level. At 11:00 on July 8th, its center was located on the ocean surface about 1520 kilometers southeast of Keelung City, Taiwan. The maximum wind force near the center was above level 17 (62 meters/second), and the minimum pressure at the center was 915 hectopascals. It is expected to continue moving towards the northwest direction at a speed of 20-30 kilometers per hour, gradually approaching the east ocean surface of Taiwan, and will have a significant impact on the eastern coastal waters of China in the future.

Affected by the peripheral circulation of the typhoon, the wind and waves in the Bashi Strait, the eastern waters of Taiwan, the East China Sea, and the Taiwan Strait will continue to intensify in the coming days. Among them, some sea areas are expected to experience waves of over 10 meters, and the National Marine Forecasting Station has issued warnings for storm surges and wave disasters. Coastal areas such as Zhejiang and Fujian are facing significant risks of storm surges and waves.
Faced with the fierce and powerful typhoon, maritime departments in coastal areas such as Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong have successively launched emergency responses for maritime typhoon prevention, strengthened ship safety supervision and port defense deployment in their jurisdiction. VTS ship traffic management centers in various regions are on duty 24 hours a day, continuously issuing typhoon path, severe wind and wave warnings, and navigation safety tips through very high frequency (VHF), ship SMS platforms, and smart maritime supervision systems to guide ships to avoid danger in a timely manner.
At the same time, the coastal maritime law enforcement force has comprehensively strengthened the safety inspection of key ships, carried out dragnet type hidden danger screening for container ships, bulk carriers, dangerous goods transport ships, offshore construction ships and passenger transport ships, focused on the inspection of anchoring equipment, host systems, mooring ropes, watertight facilities and the operation of emergency equipment, and urged enterprises to implement the responsibility of typhoon prevention to ensure the safety of ships.
At present, construction of several hydraulic projects along the coast of Zhejiang has been suspended, a large number of construction ships have been transferred to shelter anchorage, and some island passenger routes have been suspended in advance; Fujian also explicitly requires fishing boats and offshore operators to complete the "ship entering the port and people landing" within the prescribed time limit, comprehensively reducing maritime safety risks.
In terms of ports, major ports such as Ningbo Zhoushan, Fuzhou, and Xiamen have launched special typhoon prevention plans in advance, reinforced container yards, transferred dangerous goods to dedicated safety yards, and reserved sheltered anchorages for ships to avoid danger. As the typhoon approaches, ports are expected to gradually tighten the berthing and disembarking operations of large vessels based on changes in wind speed. Some ports will also temporarily suspend open-air loading and unloading and high-altitude operations to prevent secondary disaster risks caused by storm surges and strong winds.
For the international logistics industry, this typhoon may have a temporary impact on the operational efficiency of coastal ports in East and South China. Due to adverse sea conditions, ship shelter, and port anti Taiwan measures, the navigation efficiency of key waterways such as the Taiwan Strait and the East China Sea is expected to decrease. Some long-distance shipping routes, coastal domestic trade routes, and Southeast Asian round-trip routes may experience schedule adjustments, port delays, or temporary port hopping. After the resumption of port operations, the concentration of ships arriving at the port may also lead to anchorage waiting, channel congestion, and increased pressure on terminal operations, which may have a certain impact on the overall supply chain transportation rhythm.
The maritime department reminds that ships currently sailing through the western Pacific, Bashi Strait, east of Taiwan, and related waters in the East China Sea should closely monitor the latest typhoon paths and marine meteorological forecasts, adjust their routes reasonably, and avoid crossing typhoon affected areas at risk. Navigation vessels should strengthen the duty of the bridge and engine room, continuously monitor the stability of the vessel and the operation status of equipment; Ships in port should choose safe anchorages to avoid wind, strengthen mooring measures, closely monitor changes in anchorage positions, and take emergency measures as soon as possible and report to the maritime department in a timely manner in case of anchor slippage or other dangerous situations.
Star Beauty reminds all customers and partners that companies with shipping plans in the near future should closely monitor the latest notifications from shipping companies and port operations, make advance arrangements for booking, container pickup, loading, and customs clearance, and reserve sufficient logistics buffer time. For goods involving dangerous goods, with strong timeliness, or requiring transit through ports along the Taiwan Strait and East China coast, it is recommended to maintain timely communication with logistics service providers and flexibly adjust transportation plans based on the latest route and shipping schedule changes to reduce the impact of typhoon weather on the supply chain.
