Germany and Ukraine announce the establishment of a strategic partnership

On April 14, 2026, local time, Germany and Ukraine held government consultations in Berlin, officially establishing a strategic partnership and issuing a joint statement, elevating bilateral relations from an assistance relationship to a long-term strategic cooperation.
Germany pledged to continue its strong support for Ukraine's integration into Europe and its alignment with NATO, providing military assistance totaling approximately 4 billion euros, including Patriot missiles, IRIS T air defense systems, long-range weapons, and joint production of medium- and long-range drones. Both sides deepened cooperation in defense, energy, agriculture, hydrogen energy, and post-war reconstruction. Germany urged the EU to swiftly implement its 90 billion euro aid package to Ukraine, and insisted on strengthening sanctions against Russia and participating in the peace process in Ukraine.
