At present, the world economy is still in a critical stage of weak recovery, with unilateralism and protectionism on the rise, geopolitical conflicts intensifying, industrial and supply chain stability facing challenges, trade and investment barriers continuing to increase, and the global business community's demand for a stable, open, and fair development environment becoming increasingly urgent. In this context, the summit, with the theme of "Consolidating Consensus in the Business Community and Promoting Global Trade and Investment Cooperation", has established an important platform for dialogue, exchange, and pragmatic cooperation among the business communities of various countries. The release of the "Beijing Initiative" is a positive response to the common concerns of the global business community.
The Beijing Initiative is based on the overall global economic and trade development, proposing five core initiatives and clarifying the direction for deepening cooperation among the global business community. One is to firmly uphold the multilateral trading system, oppose all forms of protectionism and unilateralism, promote the reform of the World Trade Organization towards a more just and reasonable direction, and jointly maintain the rules based multilateral trade order. The second is to promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, calling on countries to lower tariff barriers, simplify customs clearance processes, optimize the business environment, and create a more fair, transparent, and predictable policy environment for cross-border business operations of enterprises. The third is to promote stable and smooth industrial and supply chains, advocate for countries to strengthen policy coordination, jointly solve logistics bottlenecks and breakpoints, and promote the construction of a safe, resilient, and open global industrial and supply chain system. The fourth is to deepen cooperation in the fields of green and digital economy, encourage the business community to increase investment in green technology research and development, promote the development of green trade, strengthen the integration of digital economy rules, and promote the healthy development of cross-border e-commerce and digital service trade. The fifth is to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in integrating into the global value chain, calling on countries to provide more trade and investment promotion services for small and medium-sized enterprises, lower the threshold for their participation in the global market, and enable them to share the benefits of economic globalization.
As an important bridge connecting China and the world, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade has always been committed to promoting the construction of an open world economy and facilitating exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and foreign business communities. The summit and the release of the Beijing Initiative fully reflect China's firm determination to promote high-level opening up to the outside world and deepen global economic and trade cooperation, and also provide action guidelines for the business communities of various countries to work together to address challenges and share development opportunities.
Currently, China is embracing the world with a more open attitude, continuously expanding institutional openness, optimizing the market-oriented, rule of law, and international business environment, and providing broad space for global enterprises to develop in China. In the future, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade will continue to play a bridging role, promote the implementation of the Beijing Initiative, build more communication and cooperation platforms for Chinese and foreign enterprises, help deepen practical cooperation among the business communities of various countries, jointly promote global trade and investment to return to the growth track, and contribute the strength of the business community to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
At a critical period of global economic recovery, the Beijing Initiative has conveyed a strong message of open cooperation and injected certainty into the confused global economic and trade landscape. I believe that with the joint efforts of the business communities of various countries, an open, inclusive, balanced, and win-win economic globalization will surely usher in a brighter future.
